Analysts

Senior Analyst, Director of Research

David Sherman has studied neuroscience for over nine years with broad exposure to translational research and cutting-edge technology. He has a deep understanding of biological systems that allows him to draw subtle distinctions between research programs and effectively evaluate market potential. David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Harvard University, where he conducted a research project on motor control and Parkinson’s Disease for his senior thesis. He completed a Ph.D. at UCLA in the Department of Neurobiology studying the neural control of breathing.

Senior Analyst

Sam Slutsky has more than 4 years of experience in healthcare research. Prior to joining the LifeSci team, Sam conducted orthopedic research under Dr. Javad Parvizi at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. His work was presented at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) 24th annual meeting. Sam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Rochester. He was a member of the school’s NCAA baseball team, where he compiled several accolades including all-conference and academic all-district.

Senior Analyst

Patrick Dolezal has accumulated a broad skill set in the life sciences over the past eight years. He holds a Master of Science degree in Biology from New York University where he completed his thesis in a translational research laboratory focused on Alzheimer’s disease. Patrick is an avid SCUBA diver and performed epidemiological research for the Divers Alert Network while based in Cozumel, Mexico.

Senior Analyst

Robin Garner brings over 12 years of investment banking, investment, and operating experience in healthcare. She has invested in both public and private equity as Vice President at HighCape Partners and an Analyst at Aisling Capital. At Regeneron, she was program CFO for twelve development programs, including immuno-oncology, and was a founding member of the Regeneron Genetics Center, where she focused on business operations and development. Robin began her career at Merrill Lynch, where she completed over $1 billion of advisory and financings in growth equity, M&A, and special situations. Robin received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University, and conducted research at Yale School of Medicine, where she co-authored a chapter in Transcriptional Regulation by Neuronal Activity. She received research awards from the American Academy of Neurology, Weizmann Institute of Science, and Yale University, and guest lectured for CB Insights on effective R&D financial planning and for the CT Environmental Protection Agency.

Analyst

Jacques is a Research Analyst at LifeSci with a focus on oncology and hematology. Jacques has over a decade of experience as a research scientist in the areas of cancer genetics and vascular biology. Prior to joining LifeSci, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he conducted research identifying mechanisms of resistance to anti-cancer therapies and developed personalized models of cancer. Jacques received his PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he focused on characterizing the molecular mechanisms governing aspects of angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. He was an author in several peer reviewed journals and was the recipient of the Ruth Kirschstein predoctoral fellowship, in addition to a postdoctoral training grant while at Weill Cornell.

Analyst

Alexis Woods is a graduate of Duke University where she earned a B.A. in History and Certificate in Global Health. Following her undergraduate education, she undertook course-work and worked in Public Health HIV-Intervention Behavioral Research at the University of Pennsylvania. She then worked for two years in clinical research studying the effects of oncologic therapies on cardiac function at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Drexel University in May 2017. Since joining LifeSci in June 2017, Alexis has worked on research for drugs and medical devices for use in cardiovascular, inflammatory, infectious, autoimmune, and metabolic diseases.

Analyst

Gabriel Fung completed his PhD with 16+ peer-reviewed publications at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, in understanding Virus-induced Cardiomyopathy. Prior to his doctorate studies, he specialized in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a specialization in virus immunology. Aside from work, Dr. Fung is a swimmer, scuba diver and snowboarder always looking for great conversation with others

Rebecca Stark has three years of experience in neuroscience research at UCLA. She worked as a research assistant at the Center for the Assessment and Prevention of Prodromal States, studying prodromal schizophrenia in young adults. She also conducted research on the neurobiology of learning and memory in zebrafish. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from University of California, Los Angeles, where she also spent time working with educational and food justice nonprofits in the greater Los Angeles community.

Associate

Nicole Gabreski has over ten years of experience in the biomedical research field, with a broad background in genetics, biochemistry, and cellular and molecular biology. Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Biological Sciences and Animal Science. She then completed her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan studying the modulation of receptor tyrosine kinases in development and disease. In addition to her basic research, Nicole has extensive experience in translational and clinical research from her postdoctoral training at Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C. and as an intern in Clinical Pharmacogenomics at Merck & Co.

Associate

Ethan Dubin is a Research Associate at LifeSci. His coverage universe includes a diverse range of emerging biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Prior to LifeSci, Ethan conducted research on mindfulness-based stress reduction in pre-adolescents at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a novel approach to treating Bell’s Palsy while working at a private medical practice. Ethan holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
