Board Placement Initiative (BPI)

LifeSci Advisors’ Board Placement Initiative (BPI) was launched in the summer of 2016 with the goal of helping companies in the life sciences industry diversify and strengthen their company boards. Connections between companies and eligible board candidates are made after LifeSci has had discussions with the company’s management team and/or board regarding the criteria they are looking for in a candidate, and the board candidates have been properly vetted by the LifeSci team. Since June 2016, BPI has helped to place five women on corporate boards, and we are looking to continue to grow upon this success in the months and years to come. With a proprietary online network of hundreds of resumes of board-ready women, LifeSci Advisors hopes that BPI can become a resource for both women executives and life sciences companies to network and grow.

Boardroom Ready

LifeSci Advisors is proud to be the founding sponsor of Women in Bio’s Boardroom Ready program, aimed to help executive women achieve their goal of corporate board service. Inspired by Biogen’s successful Raising the Bar Program, WIB’s Boardroom Ready Program seeks to prepare exceptionally qualified WIB members for board service by providing a board certification training, and assistance seeking public and private corporate board opportunities.

Boardroom Ready Candidates undergo rigorous board training with WIB’s training partner George Washington University’s Executive Education School. A five-day life-science focused board training course (split into two 2.5 day modules) teaches candidates the commitments, duties, operation, and responsibilities of participating on public and private company boards. In particular, program participants will explore topics such as financial literacy, board governance, financial strategy, crisis management, and investor relations.
